Trend report on parking facilities 2023DIWG publishes ...
Parking is and remains a topic that sparks much debate. In particular, the question of how the necessary parking spaces can still be created despite the limited availability of land and the high demand for housing, or how the few existing spaces can be used more efficiently, occupies politicians and urban planners. At first glance, parking facilities, due to their mostly vertical construction, seem to offer a solution to this problem. However, upon closer examination, it becomes apparent that the occupancy rates of parking spaces, even at high-demand locations, often leave much to be desired.
Our current trend report focuses on the reasons for this and explores alternative forms and development opportunities to make parking garages and underground car parks not only functional but also attractive and modern. The report also examines how the topics of transport transition and parking are interconnected. Additionally, it provides insights into rents and the investment market for parking facilities and discusses the attractiveness of parking garages for operators and investors: do parking garages still represent a worthwhile investment today, or will policies and regulations that aim to gradually remove cars from cities lead to a decline in parking facilities in the future?
